RanchoBot Challenge 2025

In partnership with the City of Rancho Cordova, Suvidha International Foundation successfully organized a Free Robotics Training Program and Competition for students in Grades 4–8. The program promoted STEAM learning while strengthening students’ skills in programming, engineering, creativity, leadership, and presentations. Fourteen teams enrolled and received LEGO® Education SPIKE™ PRIME kits. The initiative launched with a virtual kickoff on January 23, 2025, and offered a mix of in-person and virtual mentoring led by experienced adult and youth coaches from local robotics teams.

The program centered on three core challenges—Line Follower, Sumo-Bot Wrestling, and Pick, Pack, and Place—each requiring teams to design purpose-built robots: lightweight for line following, strong and durable for sumo wrestling, and modular for autonomous tasks. Teams developed strategies using detailed rules and scoring systems. Two scrimmages, held on April 19 and May 3, 2025, allowed teams to test, refine, and improve their robot designs and code. Throughout the program, organizers provided ongoing support through updated game manuals, FAQs, and youth empowerment activities that fostered collaboration and teamwork.

The final competition took place on May 10, 2025, at Rancho Cordova City Hall, where eleven teams demonstrated their robots’ precision, power, and speed. Mayor Siri Pulipati, Council Member Joe Little, Randi Kay Stephens, and Samantha Mott attended the event, engaging with students and parents. Council Member Joe Little presented awards to the winning teams.

Overall, participants gained hands-on experience in robotics and coding by designing, building, and refining robots, strengthening their problem-solving and technical skills. The program also boosted their confidence as students presented their work, explained design choices, and collaborated effectively within teams. Together, these experiences built a strong foundation for future success in advanced STEM studies and careers.

The initiative focused on strengthening students’ communication, presentation, critical thinking, research, and leadership skills, while also serving students in Grades 4–10 from local schools and the surrounding community.

The Fall 2024 program began with promotions in August, followed by weekly training sessions from September through November, and concluded with virtual Zoom competitions. The Spring 2025 program launched with promotions in December and January, with training sessions starting in January and culminating in in-person competitions in March.

The Speech program included Persuasive, Impromptu, and Oratorical categories, helping students clearly express ideas, organize their thoughts, and speak with confidence. The Debate program followed the Public Forum format, teaching students how to research topics, collaborate as teams, and present well-structured arguments.

More than 15 youth volunteers supported both seasons, gaining hands-on experience in teaching, program planning, and event leadership. Approximately 120 students participated in the training sessions, with 90 students competing across both seasons.

Winners received trophies and cash prizes, and all participants demonstrated measurable growth in public speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, and confidence. Grant funds were used for event promotion, venue bookings, trophies and prizes, scholarships for youth mentors, food, and other program-related expenses. Overall, the program created a meaningful and lasting impact by empowering local youth with essential communication and leadership skills.

Supported by the City of Rancho Cordova’s Community Grant Program / Measure H funds, the event brought together nearly 3,000 residents, making it one of the largest and most vibrant Diwali celebrations in the region.

The festival celebrated Indian culture while promoting unity and community engagement. Diwali, observed by Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Buddhist communities worldwide, symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness. Families from diverse backgrounds were warmly welcomed with traditional sweets, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the celebration. The park was transformed with diyas, candles, colorful LED lights, illuminated trees, decorative banners, photo booths, and festive installations, creating a magical atmosphere.

A major highlight of the evening was the spectacular aerial fireworks show, which filled the sky with brilliant colors and drew enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. Cultural performances by numerous local dance groups, music ensembles, and singers energized the stage, while a carnival, Arts & Crafts zone, and cultural competitions—such as Rangoli, Lantern Making, Cooking, Youth Costume, and Saree and Lehenga contests—engaged participants of all ages.

The event concluded as a strong example of collaboration and community spirit. More than 30 dedicated volunteers worked behind the scenes to ensure a smooth and memorable celebration. With the support of city partners, community leaders, and volunteers, Rancho Cordova’s Diwali Festival of Lights stood out as a joyful, inclusive, and unforgettable community event.

Gateway to Medicine Camp

Suvidha International Foundation proudly hosted the Gateway to Medicine Summer Camp from July 21–23 at the Art of Living Center in Folsom, California. This three-day, 10-hour immersive program engaged 40 middle and high school students, offering an early and meaningful introduction to medicine through hands-on activities, interactive discussions, and experiential learning. The camp was designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and make medical concepts approachable for students with varied backgrounds.

A defining feature of the camp was its youth-led leadership model. The entire program was planned and executed by student leaders Anoushka Bellum, Sriram Vempati, and Arjun Dhulipala—each aspiring to pursue careers in medicine. Their peer-driven approach, energy, and thoughtful curriculum design created a welcoming environment that strongly resonated with participants and inspired them to explore similar paths.

Students attended from across Sacramento, Folsom, Rocklin, Granite Bay, and Elk Grove, representing multiple middle and high schools.
